A very interesting project was realized in autumn 2019 for BayWa r.e. at the headquarters of BayWa AG in Munich. The hybrid storage system consists of 65 kWh of new batteries and 96 kWh of used battery modules from a former Daimler fleet. A string inverter concept can be used to specifically influence the ageing of the battery systems and thus optimize the overall service life of the system. The storage system is used for peak shaving at the grid connection point, but in addition to the office complex, 30 charging points for e-vehicles in the underground car park and a further 4 rapid charging points, each with 150 kW, were integrated into the operating concept. The energy management system, which has been specially optimized for this application, monitors the power at the grid connection point and also limits the power at the charging stations if necessary.
