SMAREG 2 – Breitenworbis

With the project name “SMAREG 2”, the battery storage facility built in Breitenworbis at the beginning of 2021 is part of a series of self-financed projects launched together with financing partners that offer grid services at their respective locations.

Similar to the storage facility in Gotha, SMAREG 2 also refinances itself through the marketing of primary control power, supplies peak loads in the grid of the Thuringian energy networks and thus receives remuneration for avoided grid charges. At times, the storage system is also used in the intraday energy market. The marketing model is constantly adjusted depending on price trends.
