A storage system with an energy content of 4.2 MWh was put into operation as a peak-shaving storage system at this automotive supplier near Giessen in 2020. This storage system not only saves on grid charges by avoiding high peak loads, but also equalizes the electricity consumption of the production facilities with the aim of complying with the so-called “7000-hour rule”. Up to 80 % of the previous grid fees can be saved in this way.
