Aschheim/Oldenburg, September 23, 2026
ju:niz Energy has commissioned be.storaged to carry out the turnkey construction of three battery storage systems with a total capacity of 32 MW and 85.14 MWh of usable storage capacity. The projects in Aderstedt, Gleina, and Braunsbedra will be connected at the 20-kV voltage level. Sungrow’s PowerTitan will be used as the storage technology at all three sites.
For Gleina and Braunsbedra, grid connection—and thus commissioning—is scheduled for late August 2027. The Commercial Operation Date (COD), when the plants will be finalized, handed over for operation, and ready for commercial operation, is expected to be reached by the end of 2027. Gleina and Braunsbedra are scheduled to go into operation by the end of 2027. For Aderstedt, commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2028.
This marks the first time that ju:niz Energy has commissioned be.storaged as a full-service EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor for the complete turnkey implementation of battery storage projects. be.storaged, a subsidiary of the Oldenburg-based energy group EWE, is responsible for technical planning, procurement, and construction, all the way through to certification. In addition, the companies have signed long-term service agreements (LTSAs) for all three sites.
ju:niz Energy acquired the three projects from a project developer in mid-2026 and has been overseeing the overall project management ever since. In doing so, ju:niz Energy brings together the technical, commercial, and grid-related components. This includes the further development of the acquired projects, financing, coordination of the grid connection, as well as the marketing and long-term operation of the storage facilities.
“We deliberately work with a variety of technology and implementation partners. What matters most to us is finding the best solution—both technically and economically—for each project. With be.storaged, we’ve secured a partner for turnkey implementation on these three projects. This allows us to remain flexible and continue expanding our portfolio with a variety of partners,” says Dr. Thomas Stephanblome, CEO of ju:niz Energy.
“With these three projects, we are bringing an additional 85 MWh of storage capacity online. Our primary focus is on consistently scaling our project pipeline. Implementing three projects in parallel using a uniform technical concept enhances efficiency in planning, procurement, and construction while also laying a solid foundation for future operations. be.storaged is responsible for turnkey implementation, while Sungrow supplies the storage technology with its PowerTitan. “This allows us to combine efficient project implementation with a high-performance technology platform and create the conditions needed to bring our growing pipeline online quickly and reliably,” adds Vural Özcan, COO of ju:niz Energy.
“Battery storage systems are a key component of the energy transition. Therefore, what matters most is not just how many storage projects are planned, but how quickly and reliably they are actually connected to the grid. As a full-service EPC partner, this is exactly where we can make a difference. The three projects with ju:niz Energy demonstrate how storage projects can be implemented in a structured and collaborative manner,” says Dr. Magnus Pielke, CEO of be.storaged.
Three locations with a unified technical concept
All three projects are based on the same storage technology from Sungrow and will each be equipped with three transformer units. A total of 90.27 MWh of storage capacity will be installed, of which 85.14 MWh is usable.
With a uniform technical design and the consolidated awarding of EPC contracts, ju:niz Energy is relying on standardized structures for construction and subsequent operation across the three projects.
These three projects contribute to the further expansion of storage infrastructure in Central Germany. As the share of renewable energy in the region grows, so does the need for flexible storage capacity that can balance generation and consumption over time.
About ju:niz Energy
Since 2014, ju:niz Energy GmbH has been developing, implementing, and operating battery storage systems that safely integrate renewable energy into the power grid and make it flexibly available. The company covers the entire value chain—from site analysis and technical design to implementation and long-term operation. The result is battery storage systems that are cost-effective, reliable, and designed for long-term use.
In addition to its own projects, ju:niz Energy pursues a co-development approach. Under this approach, the company participates in ongoing energy storage projects, contributing capital, technical expertise, and operational know-how, and continues to develop these projects together with its project partners through commissioning and beyond. With this approach, ju:niz Energy accelerates the implementation of battery storage systems and makes an important contribution to the energy transition and the stability of the power grids.
